Synopsis: Dangal is an extraordinary recollection of the life of Mahavir Singh and his two daughters, Geeta and Babita Phogat. The film traces the inspirational journey of a father who trains his daughters to become world class wrestlers, in the face of societal barriers - and in a village where female infanticide is not uncommon. The movie is based on a true story and is also the highest grossing Bollywood film to date.

The event is cosponsored by the Department of Asian & Middle Eastern Studies and the Duke India Initiative.
