Emily Levine is a trained historian and a Professor at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Her recent book, Allies and Rivals: German-American Exchange and the Rise of the Modern Research University (University of Chicago Press, 2021), traces the rise of the university in international context, providing lessons that are relevant for all of us today. She will discuss her research and then engage in a conversation with Molly Worthen, a Professor of History at UNC-Chapel Hill and a contributing opinion editor at the New York Times.
The discussion will be moderated by James Chappel (Duke, History).
