Thirty-three Duke applicants have been named semi-finalists for 2018-19 Fulbright awards.
The Fulbright Program, an international exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government, seeks to foster mutual understanding across borders. Duke semi-finalists, including seniors, graduate students and alumni, have proposed projects in 25 countries and on every continent.
The projects range from Master’s study to English teaching assistantships, from clinical research to photography.
“We’re excited to see so many exceptional Duke applicants become semi-finalists in this year’s Fulbright competition,” said Bevin Tighe, program coordinator in Duke’s Office of Undergraduate Scholars and Fellows (link is external) (OUSF). “We are impressed with their many innovative proposals and are proud to see each of them advance toward representing our nation and cultivating relationships within these host communities.”
Duke is a top producer of Fulbright students and faculty Fulbright scholars among U.S. research universities.
