Mudit Kumar Singh, Former Visiting Research Fellow at Duke Network Analysis Centre, Social Science Research Institute, recently published his paper “Social inequality and access to social capital in microfinance interventions” in the International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy. The purpose of his paper is to empirically examine the inequality perpetuated through social categories in accessing the social capital generated through the microfinance interventions in India as the country has pronounced economic inequality by social categories like many developing stratified societies.
Duke India Initiative funded Dr. Singh’s project meetings which were a part of Graduate Working Groups on Global Issues. Duke University Center for International and Global Studies (DUCIGS) and various units and initiatives affiliated with DUCIGS provide support to thematic working groups that are both interdisciplinary in their membership and student-driven in design.
