The research of Professor Sumathi Ramaswamy, (History, Duke University), on the role played by Gandhi’s in shaping India’s visual culture, has been noted in an October 10 article in The New York Times.

In a review of two exhibitions, Inappropriated: The Toy Gandhi and Memories of the Mahatma (on display through October 26 at Aicon Contemporary in New York), Alisha Haridasani Gupta quotes Prof. Ramaswamy, who noted "He [Gandhi] has come to be appropriated even by forces completely antithetical to his message."
