John Wong, Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong, took a lunchtime audience on a tour of how the city's political and economic development reflected the structure and institutions of its commercial aviation industry and how these influences facilitated the its development into a hub against the backdrop of a reconfiguring global network.

Anna Sun (Duke University) spoke at Duke with Brian Stennsland (Indiana & Purdue) and Jaime Kucinskas (Hamilton College) to examine how spirituality interacts with religion, culture, politics, and civic life. They co-edited the recently published volume, "Situating Spirituality: Context, Practice, and Powe r" (Oxford, 2021.)

In a virtual Wednesdays at the Center presentation, Dr. Nishani Frazier, Associate Professor of American Studies and History at University of Kansas, discussed Bill Cinton’s President's Initiative on Race and the social and political circumstances that gave rise to its creation.

In this first Wednesdays at the Center talk of Spring 2022, Duke University's theater scholar Esther Kim Lee shared some of her recent research on the use of “cosmetic yellowface” in theatrical productions such as “Madame Butterfly” and “The Darling of the Gods.”
