Duke University Center for International & Global Studies is pleased to announce that the speaker for the 2021 Anthony J. Drexel Biddle, Jr. Lecture on International Studies
is The Honorable R. Nicholas Burns
, former US Ambassador to NATO and Greece during his twenty-seven year career as a Foreign Service Officer in the US government. He is currently the Roy & Barbara Goodman Family Professor of the Practice of Diplomacy & International Relations at the Harvard Kennedy School; founder and Faculty Chair of the Future of Diplomacy Project; and Faculty Chair of the Project on Europe & the Transatlantic Relationship.
Professor Burns' talk will be held on Thursday, April 8th, 2020 at 5pm via Zoom (link to be provided soon).
The Anthony J. Drexel Biddle, Jr. Lecture in International Studies was established by Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans and James H. Semans and their family to honor Mrs. Semans’ father, who had a distinguished career as a diplomat in the service of the United States and was an original signer of The Duke Endowment.
